   On Tuesday, January 8, 2002 two Beaufort County Sheriff's Office Deputies, LCpl Dana L. Tate, Sr. and his partner, Cpl Dyke “AJ” Coursen, were killed in the line of duty when they responded to a domestic disturbance call in Burton, SC. In honor of their sacrifice, during the “Tate/Coursen Memorial Walk/Run” fundraiser, we will celebrate their lives by walking or running the track in 10 laps (5K) - - each lap commemorates a year since their death. Funds raised from this event will benefit CODA, Citizen's Opposed to Domestic Abuse, our local charity that provides shelter and assistance to victims of domestic violence and their children. We will also have information about CODA and the Beaufort County Sheriff's Office to educate the public as to the services and programs they provide.
